KUTZTOWN, PA. (December 14, 2009) – Anne Waapu (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND/) (Hastings, NEW ZEALAND) and Lauren Solley (Oley, PA/Olley Valley) (Oley/Oley Valley) were each named to the 2009 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II All-American teams. Complete Selections
This marks the first time either earned All-American accolades, with Waapu named to the first team and Solley to the second team.
Waapu earned first team status after posting 24 points, which tied for second on the Golden Bears. The junior had one game winning goal while playing in 16 contests.
Waapu was also named to the All-PSAC East first team.
Solley enjoyed a memorable senior season to cap her career as a Golden Bear. She led the team in goals (13) and points (31), while her 1.63 goals per game average ranked 16th in Division II.
In a September win over Catawba, Solley etched her name in the KU record books with a single-game record of five goals. The senior forward finished her career at KU with 19 goals and 44 points while playing in 52 games.
Waapu, Solley and the rest of the Golden Bears finished 12-8 and made a third-consecutive appearance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships. The 2009 season was highlighted by a 2-1 win over eventual NCAA Champion Bloomsburg on September 12.
