KUTZTOWN, PA. (November 19, 2009) – Kutztown University volleyball players Katie Miller (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown) (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) and Jamie Celia (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) (Douglassville/Daniel Boone) were selected to the all-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division second team.
Miller, a senior who plays on the right side, making her second consecutive appearance on the PSAC East second team, and Celia, a junior libero, played key roles this season in helping the Golden Bears (16-13 overall) finish in second place in the PSAC East.
Celia had a team-high 51 service aces this year, moving her into third place on the all-time KU list. She was second in the PSAC in service aces per game (0.75) and ninth in digs per game (4.41) this season. Celia, who has 150 career service aces, enters her senior season needing 11 service aces to become Kutztown's all-time leader.
In addition, Celia also led the Golden Bears with 391 digs. During the season, Celia registered seven matches of 20 or more digs. She had a season-high 29 digs against Indiana (Pa.). Celia has registered 1,052 career digs, which is the fourth-most in program history.
Meanwhile, Miller finished her outstanding career with 777 kills, which ranks her eighth all-time in program history. Miller was third on the Golden Bears with 153 kills this season. She had a season-high 12 kills twice against Indiana (Pa.) and Chowan. Miller also recorded 45 assists, 44 blocks, 35 digs and two service aces.
