Senior Kristin Cupido (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) has agreed to do a daily diary of Kutztown's experience at the NCAA Division II Cross-Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky. Here's her first entry:
DAY 1 (Wednesday, December 1, 2010)
So today was interesting to say the least! We started off with
Keri Brown (Southampton, NJ/Seneca) thinking she forgot her license and
Carolyn Fergus (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) not thinking she had enough identification to pass security. We got to the Lehigh Valley Airport with it pouring rain. Turned out that our flight to Philadelphia was cancelled! We had to call Assistant track and field coach
Keith White so he could drive us to the Philadelphia Airport. Luckily, we made it in time and had time to relax and take pictures waiting for a flight attendant to arrive.
The best part was
Jayme Daly (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy), who has never been on a plane before, ironically sitting in the exit row. She said if she had to do anything she'd just scream! Also, as head coach
Ray Hoffman was telling us a million times to make sure we have no liquids in our carry on, who has to get his back checked? Coach Hoffman.
We got to the Hyatt Hotel which is all decked out for the DII festival and it is amazing!! We got there around 4:30 p.m. and then headed to the Muhammed Ali Center for dinner and to look at all of the exhibitions. We finally got back to the hotel around 8 p.m. and went for a walk to see all of the Christmas lights and trees. It would have been better if it wasn't 25 degrees out!!
The night ended perfectly with
Cristina Reimer (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) dancing against everyone in a WII type game. They have a game room open and it is filled with WII, guitar hero, and this dancing game! Tomorrow we're going to practice in the morning and have some sort of adventure, I'm sure!
