KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Six Kutztown University student-athletes have qualified for the 2010 NCAA Division II Swimming Championships. The meet will take place from March 10-13 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio, home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Representing Kutztown University will be
Steph Jeppesen (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty),
Alexandra Crigler (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson),
Heather Wolkom (Rumson, N.J./Rumson Fair-Haven Regional ),
Jordan Shapiro (Yardville, N.J./Princeton),
Nikki Hinsdale (Glen Mills, Pa./Bayard Rustin) and
Allison Sheely (Enola, Pa./Trinity). The Golden Bears will also enter an optional 200 free relay, 400 medley relay, 800 free relay, and the 400 free relay. Kutztown coach
Tim Flannery has not yet finalized what student-athletes would be competing in those relays.

Jeppesen qualified for the 200-yard individual medley, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-medley relay. Crigler and Wolkom will each compete in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle. Shapiro will swim the 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard medley relay. Hinsdale and Sheely will round out the Golden Bears' 200-medley relay team.

Kutztown is looking to duplicate its success at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships where it finished fourth. During the four-day meet, Kutztown set 11 school records had five swimmers earn all-PSAC recognition and won three PSAC individual titles.

Crigler set school records in the 500, 1,000 and 1,650-yard freestyle races at the PSAC championships. Jeppesen won three individual events: 100 breaststroke (1:03.99), 200 breaststroke (2:16.49) and 200 individual medley (2:04.59). In addition to setting school records in the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke, Jeppesen was a member of four school-record setting relay teams: 200-medley relay (1:47.47), 400-medley relay (3:56.86), 400-yard free relay (3:34.85) and 800-yard free relay (7:43.58).
