HOWELL, NEW JERSEY (March 5, 2010) – The Kutztown University women's bowling team is packing their bags and heading to Howell, New Jersey for the two-day ECAC Championship Tournament this weekend. Hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson, the tournament is one of three remaining tournaments in Kutztown's remaining season.
Kutztown (51-40, 9-5) is ranked 12th in the latest poll by the National Tenpins' Coaches Association, will join 11 other schools on the lanes this weekend. Adelphi, Coppin State, Delaware State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Kutztown, Long Island, Morgan Sate, New Jersey City, Norfolk Sate, St. Francis (N.Y.), St. Peter's and Vanderbilt will be participating.
The Golden Bears will compete in five traditional team matches on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. Kutztown will roll off against Coppin State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Delaware State, Norfolk State, and St. Francis (N.Y.)
On Sunday Kutztown will bowl three four-game baker matches. The tournament will close with the two final matches consisting of Best of Four of Seven Baker Position Rounds.
Kutztown's Sunday schedule will be a challenge, facing Vanderbilt, St. Peter's and Morgan State in the four-game baker matches. The final two opponents will be determined by the previous eight matches' order of the total pinfall standings.
The tournament begins on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Howell Lanes. On Sunday, the team will be back in action bright and early at 9:30 a.m.
