Golden Bear golfers head to Erie for Gannon Invitational

ERIE, PA (April 10. 2010) - The Kutztown University women's golf team will trek across Pennsylvania to Erie for the Gannon Invitational on Sunday and Monday. (Driving Directions)

At last year's Gannon Invite, the Golden Bears finished in third place of 10 teams on the 6,663-yard, par-71 Lakeshore Country Club. Chelsea Corbo carded a 161 to place tied for fourth. Samantha Rumbley was six strokes behind, which was good enough for 13th place.

The two-day invite will be the first action for the Golden Bears since placing first at the spring opener, McDaniel Invitational.  Freshman Mindy Glatfelter shot a
172 (88-84) and Corbo had a 173 to lead the way, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Rumbley carded a first day 88 and final round 89 to finish in ninth place.

Corbo will look to improve on her earlier results after spending ample amount of time working on her short game, with the watchful eye of Glaftelter helping out.

Morgan Todd (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and Nina Antos (State College/State College) round out the golfer's for this weekend. Antos averaged a 90.3 in the fall, while Todd was at 93.9 in eight rounds of competition.

Following this weekend's action, the Golden Bears will host the Kutztown Invitational on Friday April 16th Berkleigh Country Club.
