KU golf in third place after first day of Gannon Invitational

ERIE, PA (April 11, 2010) - The Kutztown University women's golf team collectively shot a 346 in the opening round to place third at the Gannon Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Freshman Mindy Glatfelter led the Golden Bears for the second consecutive outing, shooting a first round score of 85. In the only other action this spring, Glatfelter helped the Golden Bears to first place showing at the McDaniel Invitational with her fourth place finish.

Samantha Rumbley, Chelsea Corbo and Nina Antos each turned in a first round total of 87
on the 6,663-yard, par-71 Lakeshore Country Club. At last season's Gannon Invite, Corbo led KU placing fourth and Rumbley was 13th.

Head coach Rob Fisher is pleased with his team's play, but has higher hopes for the final day.

"We played pretty well today, but there is room for improvement," said Fisher. "I think we will be ready tomorrow to move up in the standings."

The final round of the Gannon Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday morning.
