KU golfers in second after first day at East Stroudsburg Invitational

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (April 17, 2010) - The Kutztown University women's golf team toughed the elements and finished second on the first day of the East Stroudsburg Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bears shot a 361, trailing first place Gannon by only three strokes. Mercyhurst is in third place (369), followed by West Chester with 384. Franklin & Marshall and Clarion are tied for fifth (385) and host East Stroudsburg is in seventh with 412 strokes.

As if the 5,282-yard, par-72 Wind Gap Country Club wasn't tough enough, the golfers had to endure chilly weather and brutal wind conditions. Chelsea Corbo, fresh off a 3rd place 80 stroke performance at the Kutztown Invitational on Friday, paced the Golden Bears with an 86 to sit in second place.

Samantha Rumbley recorded a 90, finishing one stroke ahead of freshman Mindy Glatfelter's 91. Nina Antos rounded out the Golden Bears with her first round 94.

The Golden Bears will conclude the ESU Invite with Sunday's second round, before finishing off the season at the PSAC Championships on Saturday April 24 and Sunday April 25.
