PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 23, 2010) – Kori Meshaw (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) came close to lowering is personal best standard in the 400-meter hurdles during the 116th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field Friday morning. Instead of a career best performance, Meshaw departed the University of Pennsylvania knowing he turned a few heads and ran a strong race. (COMPLETE PENN RELAY DAY 2 RESULTS)
Meshaw finished 11th out of 43 entrants in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 52.93 seconds. Meshaw was second in his heat, finishing behind Jermaine Lowery from the University of Pittsburgh. Meshaw had faster times from athletes from schools such as Houston, Villanova, LSU and Penn State.
Later in the day, Meshaw teamed with Eli Weeks (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts), Shaun Crump (Boyertown/Boyertown) and Kendel Dixon (Atglen/Octorara) to finish seventh in the Wetzler/Pennsylvania 4 x 400-meter race. The quartet ran 3 minutes, 22.02 seconds.
Justin Germani (Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) had a strong effort in the College Men's Pole Vault Championships. He finished third with a clearance of 16 feet, .75 inches. Teammate William Hodges (Levittown/Neshaminy) was 16th in the same event (14-7.25).
Kutztown returns to action Saturday when it competes in the Paul Kaiser Invitational hosted by Shippensburg University. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
