PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS: Iouse's throw is a winner for KU men as it takes fifth

WEST CHESTER, PA (May 15, 2010) – Jack Iouse won the javelin for the Kutztown University men's track and field team at the 2010 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship meet at West Chester's Farrell Stadium Saturday afternoon.(FINAL RESULTS)

Iouse's effort help the Kutztown men finish fifth overall as a team with 66 points. The Golden Bears finished behind Shippensburg (163.50), East Stroudsburg (154.50), Lock Haven (103) and Slippery Rock (72).

“The conditions weren't ideal because it was windy, but Jack did a good job,” Kutztown head coach Ray Hoffman said. “He was trailing by five centimeters when he took his final throw. Jack is one of those guys who is laid back and quiet. He has a great work ethic and he really had to stay focused all year. A lot of times he wouldn't get to practice until after five because of his class schedule, but he was dedicated and this is the payoff for him.”

Also earning all-PSAC honors was Jason Rebuck (Southampton/William Tennent) (discus), Kori Meshaw (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) (400-meter hurdles), and Justin Germani (Birdsboro/Daniel Boone) (pole vault). They all finished second in their respective events. The Golden Bears' 4 x 400-meter relay foursome of Kendel Dixon (Atglen/Octorara), Percell Berry (Collegeville, PA/Methacton), Shaun Crump (Boyertown/Boyertown) and Meshaw also earned all-PSAC honors after finishing third in a season-best time of 3:15.91 seconds.

The 4 x 400 splits were as follows: Berry (50.2), Meshaw (48.8), Dixon (47.8) and Crump (49.1).

Eli Weeks (Pottstown/Owen J. Roberts), who earned a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800-meter run in Friday's preliminary round, was fourth in his signature event. Hurdlers Shane Harvey (Pattenburg, N.J./North Hunterdon) and T.J. Longmore (Lititz/Manheim Township) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 110-meter hurdles. They were separated by .4 seconds. Harvey crossed the finish line in 15.16 seconds.

The Golden Bears' 4 x 100-meter relay team of Greg Crawford (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown), Dixon, Matt Cannell (Douglassville, PA/Daniel Boone) and Berry was sixth (42.61).
