Golden Bears set school record and three athletes meet NCAA provisional mark

PRINCETON, N.J. (May 2, 2010) -- The Kutztown University women's track and field team had an outstanding performance at the Princeton Elite Meet on Saturday. The women's 4x100 meter relay team broke the school record, April Doyle and Ashley Pinter both threw an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put and Keri Brown ran an NCAA Provisional time in the 1500 meter run.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Kristen Slack, Brooke Mathews, Sarah Messner and Shante Grayer ran a school best 48.54 seconds. The previous record time of 48.55 was set in 2007.

Doyle threw 45 feet, two inches in the shot put for third place and improved her NCAA provisional mark. Pinter threw 43-7 in the shot put to earn her an NCAA provisional mark.

Brown finished seventh with a time of 4 minutes 37.60 seconds in the 1500 meter run to meet the NCAA provisional time.

In the 400 meter hurdles Lynn Lisofskyplaced fifth with a time of 1:04.47 seconds. Slack jumped 18-07 in the long jump for fifth place.

Rachel Hunte, Katie Colburn, Mathews, and Lisofsky ran in the 4x400 meter relay to finished fourth with a time of 4:02.95.

The Golden Bears return to action this weekend, when they host the Kutztown Invitational on Saturday, May 8. The event is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
