Arbogast and Colineri earn Daktronics second team honors

KUTZTOWN, PA (May 20, 2010) – Senior pitcher Katlin Arbogast and sophomore second baseman Nicole Colineri were named to the Daktronics all-Atlantic Region second team Wednesday evening.

 

Arbogast and Colineri helped the Golden Bears enjoy another strong season. Kutztown finished with 43 victories, the fourth straight season it has won 40 or more games. The Golden Bears also qualified for the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional tournament for the eighth straight season. Kutztown's season concluded with a 3-2 defeat to California, Pa.

 

Arbogast was the most decorated pitcher in the history of the Kutztown softball program. Arbogast was named the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season. She finished her career as Kutztown's all-time leader in strikeouts (1,026), complete games (100), shutouts (30), wins (99), games (166), saves (eight) and inning pitched (922).

 

This season Arbogast finished with a 26-12 record and a 2.13 earned run average. She recorded 269 strikeouts. Arbogast fired off a pair of memorable efforts in the NCAA tournament. Needing to win a pair of games to stay alive in the NCAA tournament, Arbogast pitched consecutive shutouts against Fairmont State and Shepherd. She struck out a season-high 13 batters against Fairmont State. Overall, Arbogast finished with double digit strikeouts seven times this season.

 

Meanwhile, Colineri was Kutztown's second leading hitter this season (.347). Colineri led the Golden Bears with 15 sacrifice bunts and 13 stolen bases. Colineri had four games with three hits this season and 13 multiple-hit games. She also had Kutztown's longest hitting streak by a player this season, 12 games. Colineri scored the winning run against West Chester in a crucial conference contest.
