Berry Vaults into Weekly PSAC Honor

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Kutztown University's Percell Berry (Collegeville, PA/Methacton) (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a strong performance at the Bison Open & Multi.

Berry cleared a height of 15-4.5 (4.69) in the pole vault to finish fourth overall, but was the top collegiate finisher.  The mark also moved him into second place in the PSAC this season in the pole vault and was the best height by a Golden Bear in 2011-12.

The height was just 2.25 inches short an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and ranks 17th in Division II this year.

He is also the first KU student-athlete to win a weekly honor from the PSAC during the 2011-12 indoor season.

Berry was also part of a 4x400-meter relay team that captured third at the meet with a time of 3:23.77.

The Golden Bears are back in action on February 3-4 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
