Kutztown Football Opens Up Spring Practice on Friday

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Kutztown University football team took its first walk as a unit out to University Field on Friday afternoon, as spring practices officially got underway for the Golden Bears.

Over the next four weeks, Kutztown will work out in 15 practices at University Field. With plenty of lifting sessions and Sunday's off in between, one of the highlights of the spring will be the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 19, the second-to-last practice of the season. The officiated intra-squad scrimmage will begin at 1 p.m.

The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather.

The Golden Bears finished with a 4-7 record in 2013 and ended their season on a three-game winning streak while winning four of their final five games. Kutztown had four players earn all-conference status, and returns a strong class for the 2014 season, the 99th season of Kutztown football.

Spring practice marks fans' first opportunity to see new head coach Jim Clements in action. He will lead the Golden Bears onto the field on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Slippery Rock University for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Clements' first game at University Field will be on Saturday, Sept. 13 against Indiana University (PA) beginning at 1:05 p.m.
